PHILOSOPHY OF PRACTICE
Birth is a right of passage for both the birthing person, the birth partner, and the infant. Any birthing person should always be treated with kindness, respect, and cultural competence. As a labor and delivery nurse, I aim to provide my clients with evidence-based information, advocacy for my patients, and space necessary to make informed decisions about every aspect of their care. Clients should also be given the time to ask questions, be heard, and treated with respect while in care to give fully informed consent. While being a compassionate nurse, I will also strive to educate and allow the birth process to develop with the patient's culture and goals in mind. |
I am Giselle Rackley (she/her/hers) and in the San Antonio metropolitan area. I come into this nursing journey by learning little by little over the past 21 years with my 4 children. My births have been hospital-based with a variety of different experiences. My youngest childbirth was attended by my doula/friend, a midwife and, though it was an unexpected hospital transfer from home, it was my most supportive birth of all. I appreciate the great, compassionate, and professional care my doula and midwife provided. Over the past few years, I have noticed I have read more and more about birth, postpartum care, and the needs of women to have better access to trained birth providers that I finally listened to my heart to plunge into the waters of mother-baby centered nursing. I aim provide evidence-based care that is client-centered and allows for the birth providers and birthing families to appreciate the outcome of the care provided.
